Joint Custody Tax Question?

My ex and I have joint custody. I am the primary custodial parent. I have my son 313 nights of the year. I pay 63% of everything. The court order also states that " I shall be allowed to claim the minor child as dependent for purposes of filing any and all federal or state income tax returns for the taxabble year 2007 and all subsequent odd numbered years..." My question is that for 2008 taxable year my ex will claim our son as a dependant. Can I still claim head of house hold since i have him for more than 50% of the time and have a court order that states that i pay for more than 50% of the expenses? Ok, this is weird. I posed this question a month ago, and I got some great answers. Unfortunately, none of those tactics have worked, and I'm still in a rut. I'm a 28-yr-old female, 5'7 and 190lbs. There's lots of muscle on me as well. I tried the South Beach diet for 2 weeks (NEVER cheated), and I exercised in conjunction. No weight loss. Then I switched to Atkins (yes, I know it's a horrible diet but I was desperate). My blood sugar was so low that I actually managed to get into ketosis, which meant that I should have been losing weight. No results. Then I bought hoodia (the pure kind--not that fake crap) and I was still left hungry. What the heck is happening? Two years ago, when I tried all these diets, they actually worked! I saw mad weight loss. I know a person's metabolism changes with age, but mine shouldn't have changed so dramatically in two years that it's virtually impossible for me to lose (other than starvation!). Can anyone help? Are there any nutritionists out there???

I drive a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse which is one of the most ridiculous cars to have for a family. I bought it when my husband and I both had cars, so when we needed to make a family trip, we drove his. Not long after buying it, we found out we were moving to Hawaii and that I was pregnant again. It's big enough for a convertible car seat and infant car seat in the back, but not much else. When the kids get bigger and it's more economical for us, we'll definitely be buying something bigger. Probably not. Depends somewhat on the cirstances. Is it a two stroke (oil added to gas) or four stroke (oil in crankcase) engine? Was it running (hot) when it went to the bottom? How long was it submerged? Two stroke engines are simpler to restore to working order than four stroke engines. If you check around on the internet you'll be able to find advice on how to restore a motor after it's been submerged. If you're not into doing it yourself you can find an outboard dealer/repair shop that will do it. Check with several places so you get the best deal (=price and quality of workmanship).

Courthouse wedding and reception day after...weird?

First of all, if it is just your fiance and you at the courthouse and you are not inviting any guests, then you are not doing anything wrong. What would be tacky is if you ask people to come see you get married anywhere and then do not have a reception afterward (meaning even some beverages and appetizers to say thanks for coming.) Now for this cookout, its perfectly acceptable to do this and I agree, it should be the day after your wedding or the next weekend. You need not call it a reception though, because it isn't. Your guests are not being received from anything. Instead you send informal party invitations NOT fancy wedding invites. You call it a Part/Cookout/BBQ Celebrating our Recent Marriage. If you want to register, that is fine but dont put it in any invation. I know many brides do and this is really poor etiquette. You provide that info when asked by friends or family. Biology Major, Help in Guidance?

I am going to be attending school this spring, pursueing a bachelors degree in biology and I was wondering what the steps are to becoming an animal training or a researcher. I know there are thousands of organizations, but I have failed on finding them. My ideal position years from now is caring for, researching, or training animals. Primarily researching however. I don't necessarily want to work at a Zoo, but something to that nature. Perhaps an endangered species reserve. I need some help though, I know vaguelly what I want to achieve but until I take some higher learning cles my sophmore year of college, I will not be able to pinpoint which part of biology interests me the most. Breakup drama?

Lets say you breakup with a girl, whom was quality, was good to you, however disrespected you and rejected you in some ways. Stating that she only spends time with you because she feels sorry for you, says that she is wasting her time with you, and says that you have mental problems. You consequently breakup with her, break your ties with her, and ignore her as you feel she may just be using you and doesn't think much of you. Would you feel justified in breaking it off with her? I went with my instincts and did so. I just need some opinions and advice and feel I could do better than her, to find somebody who actually appreciates me. I felt as though she may have some self-esteem and confidence issues, and was trying to compensate for these deficiencies by putting me down and attempt to make me feel inferior to her. I was wondering if this is something common with women, who may sometimes try to make themselves feel better about themselves by putting down others.

It never ends and this is just the beginning of the suffering to come. My hours were cut on my job, my woman left me for a man not working and I just got three traffic tickets in one day. Aggressive dog training? Caesar Milan?

A friend of mine and I were talking about dogs, she was telling me that her 2 year old Shiba Inu that she just adopted a couple weeks ago is showing signs of aggression to certain family members, strangers, and other dogs. She always brings up "Ceaser Milan" and his show the Dog Whisperer, she bases her dog training on his show. I personally don't believe his methods of training are correct, in a lot of the shows he condones using "dominant" methods over the dog, which sometimes can be a bit harsh. I don't believe these methods are right, i think they just provoke fear in the dogs. Dogs know we are not dogs, they look at us (the owners) with love and loyalty, by us trying to prove our dominance to them i believe it just provokes fear, and while that may work in certain situations, that is just making the dog afraid of you. Anyways I told her this and every once in a while, she will tell me that i do a bad job at training my dog. Just because i choose to use different methods other than dominance doesn't mean my methods are "wrong". I even let her walk my dog once and she explained that if you hold the dog on a very short leash and keep pulling her back harshly every time she tries to go ahead of you, she will eventually learn to walk right next to you. I felt so bad for my dog, she was practically getting whiplash, and her method didn't work at all :( What do you guys think of ceaser milan and his "dominance" technique in training? I personally believe that show is outdated and he is not a real educated trainer, she should not base her training on a show on TV. She should get some real one on one dog training with a licensed dog trainer. Am i right?

I know you are correct. Socialism causes people to not care any more about inventing or making things better. Communism is a kind of socialism that says that there should not be social cles or states. That is what socialism is. No one should own even their own property, factories, and etc. but should be owned by everyone. If everyone owns a factory and everyone gets paid the same amount, what is the incentive in working hard or inventing anything since everyone will get the credit for what you did? The government takes over and runs every phase of our lives. Moving from New York to Arizona, where do I start?

I was discharged under RE code 4 other than honorable for a failed drug test, however, til this day i do not know why/ where it was possibel for me to have come in contact with a drug (cocaine) as i have never used a drug in my life. We have been dating 7 months and last year I lost 25 kg. But I am still about 5 kg overweight and I live a healthy life style, walking 8 km a day and go to the gym 5 days aweek. I eat healthy and have managed to maintain my weight. He says he finds me attractive now but I would look better if I lost a little bit more. I had a c section a month ago. When I was in the hospital my family was present. My step mom is also a patient of my OB's when he saw her in my room she explained to him how we were related. A couple weeks later I had to cancel an appointment at my doctors office and when they could not reach me for a few days they called my stepmom and discussed my incision along with insurance and billing information. My step mom is not someone on my paperwork to be contacted for any reason only my husband is. He only got her number from her medical chart. However, the surgery that your dog went through most likely did some damage to the tympanic membranes as well and she will have at least some hearing loss if not total deafness. If she has some amount of hearing now, she probably will have some amount of hearing long-term. Even if she does have some hearing loss you probably won't notice much. Dogs with chronic ear infections bad enough to warrant this kind of surgery usually have a lot of hearing loss anyway before the surgery.

Paint question about fixative or sealant with painted rocks?

I just started painting on a variety of surfaces. I use acrylic paint. I want some of my things to be weather/uv proof. Am i supposed to be looking for a fixative? an additive to the paint? a sealant? does it spray on, brush on? What other options do I have to treat my endometriosis?

I am 26 years old and was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2006 when I had my tubes tied. I have been on several different types of birth control and currently I am taking Aygeston to stop my periods to try to control the growth of the disease. We tried to get me on Lupron but my insurance won't cover it and it will cost around $1000 for the 3 month treatment. My ob/gyn said I will eventually need to have some other kind of surgery, possibly a total or partial hysterectomy. I'm scared to have that done. My sister had it and she is better. He said that because she had it my chances of developing it when up about 70%. I live in okc, so if anyone knows of a good gyno so I can get a second opinion or has any advice or suggestions on what I should do it would be well appreciated.
