Do I have a chance of getting a good job if I know what I am doing but my grades are bad?

I am a chemistry major and I really know my stuff, but my grades are bad because they never teach comprehension in my cles anymore. I could do any lab work, however. Is there a chance I could get my foot in the door and succeed if it is clear I am capable?
