Zelda Phantom Hourgl DS: Molida Island?

I'm on Molida Island trying to get the shovel etc to find my way in the NW Sea. I've spoken to everyone, been in all the houses but nothing. I'm in the house on the far eastern side and talked to the guy in there, but he just keeps saying about it being big talk amongst the fisherman and don't get crazy ideas in my head. I thought he was supposed to yell at me? And the woman outside just keeps telling me not to go in the cave cos of the monsters. HELP!
